Frenemies: Thicker Than Blood

Recommended 5/5Fantasy & actionDrama

Here we follow two martial arts apprentices who, as time passes (and they grow up), see what used to be just a rivalry take on more adult and deeper aspects.

The work manages to combine action, adventure, romance and drama in a unique way. From the start the story seems well grounded, both in the variety of characters and in the especially satisfying use of each one. It's definitely not an aimless work. Slow and maybe a bit long in some parts? Yes, but nothing that gets in the way.

Overall, Frenemies manages to excite and innovate in a genre, yaoi, that doesn't usually tell this kind of story. The fights are well done and the art is carefully made. The historical aspect gives the work a certain well-crafted charm.

So the work brings new elements and manages to make an impact and hold the reader's attention, whether with a lovable couple or by telling a relatively simple but excellently told story.

It's worth it for anyone looking for a new, completed read that will definitely make you cry, go crazy and love it.
