Jinx

Not recommended 2.5/5RadiationHot

Jinx is an ongoing manhwa where, just from the cover, you already know a lot of radiation is coming. And I mean A LOT. The problem isn't the radiation itself, but its purpose. Here? Here it serves to create a bunch of questionable hot scenes. 🔞

The story follows the boxer's physical therapist, Kim Dan, and the seme, Jaekyung, the boxer. The relationship starts off wrong from the beginning. There are scenes I consider abuse and that were clearly not consensual, or at least whose romanticization could be considered problematic. I know many people love the story, but I honestly couldn't bring myself to like it. Up to a point it even intrigued me, but then I completely turned up my nose at some uses of the plot (hammering the same note over and over).

The uke NEVER STOPS suffering. It's one SUFFERING after another. HE HAS NO PEACE. The SEME? He seems to have only one (horrible) personality and always finds a way to belittle Kim Dan. And that would be fine if the story showed some kind of growth or something like that. That's not the case.

There isn't much beyond that. The work is still ongoing, but so far I don't see how the author could make me forgive the seme, or at least swallow some kind of redemption and healthy relationship between the two.

To wrap up, Jinx is definitely not a work for those who are just starting out in the yaoi world. Experienced fans who can handle a lot of radiation will find some fairly cute scenes and some steamier ones that are acceptable to some extent (the high point, in fact, is the 🔥).

Overall I don't recommend it: there are better works that deliver everything better (both in 🔥 and in story and in making better use of the radiation).
