Perfect?? Close to it
Sign
Sign is a manhwa that tells the story of Yohan, a deaf man who owns a café, and Soohwa, an employee at that café. From the very first chapter, you fall in love with the author's storytelling. 🔞
Among the many things about this work, it's without a doubt rewarding and welcome to see a work that portrays the daily lives of deaf people and how their relationships with other characters play out. In this case, the café owner. (By the way, some chapters where the employee says "can't he hear me?" and calls out to him from behind are really funny.)
Overall, it's a sensitive work that takes care in working through certain plotlines and holds the reader's attention by raising questions to be answered throughout the story. The plots (twists) are relatively well done and surprising. The boss–employee relationship is VERY funny, and the chemistry? Well, the chemistry is great.
Honestly, one thing that bothered me in the work was the UKE, who HONESTLY makes me a little TIRED. And Yohan? He's absolutely perfect. A lovely character with many positive points in how he's built. (All I'll say is that, despite being deaf, he speaks, and his voice? You'll understand when you read it, hahaha.)
Overall, Sign is a must on any yaoi reading list. A "complete package" work, from innovating in a sea of clichéd works to the visible care in building a well-crafted, fun and intriguing story. It's definitely worth checking out.
