A romance that makes you fall in love
Touch Within the Abyss
It is with immense pleasure that I talk briefly about one of the most beautiful works I've ever read. And I can guarantee that you, reader, will fall in love too.
The drama tells the characters' story gently, bringing metaphors that will hit your heart hard; it's really hard not to be moved. Chinatsu, the protagonist, was raised by his father to be an assassin, but suffers a trauma that will haunt him for the rest of his life: his older brother killed in front of him and his father blaming him for it. On the night it happened, crying alone on the floor, he sees a little boy with eyes that could see “through” him; little did he know that this same boy would one day be part of his dreams (or nightmares).
One day Chinatsu happens to meet the little blind boy, named Kasumi, helps him get home, and the two end up becoming “friends”. Kasumi is a pure and spirited young man who lives in a small room far from the rest of the big house. His family didn't let him go out much because of his condition, so he grows up socially withdrawn, but after meeting Chinatsu he starts smiling every day.
Chinatsu and Kasumi start meeting every day and begin to develop feelings that Chinatsu represses, afraid of disappointing Kasumi or even afraid of his own “true” self, while Kasumi gives himself more and more.
“The snake and the dolphin” is a very striking metaphor in the work, from Kasumi's favorite book, but I'd rather not say much about it, because when you, reader, understand it, it'll be hard not to shed tears. Not to mention the flower metaphor that appears on the cover.
An amazing work that will take you through its pages feeling every emotion along with the characters. It has one 18+ scene, but the focus isn't on the “act” itself, but on what's going through their minds in that moment.
